Do you ever barter or give discounts?
Alas, I barter on the most rare occasions. This is mostly because I make enough money I am able to buy whatever I need. The only service I would consider bartering for would be a local handyman to do some work around my home. In the case of bartering, I offer my services after the work gets done. For better or for worse (mostly worse), clients that barter services have a habit of suddenly being busy after they receive their part of the arrangement.
As for giving discounts, I also rarely do so. I understand that I charge premium rates. In return, however, I am usually flexible with the time. I consider this a way of giving back to the clients that hire me. A 60-minute session might go more like 70 or 75 minutes, especially if we're talking and enjoying each others' company.
On occasion there are younger (under 22) guys that are interested in my services, but cannot afford my rate. In a case like this, I suggest you e-mail me. I have so few young clients that sometimes I give discounts just because it's a change of pace for an evening.
